Rio Marina (Cavo, Tuscany)

Things to do in Tuscany

It is said that villages in Tuscany are, without exception, so beautiful, that each and every one of them is visited by tourists throughout the year. No wonder that the nautical offer is also very diverse and organized. If you visit Tuscany in October, you will encounter fields, in all shades of ocher, of singular beauty. The harvesting of wine grapes is at the same time of year, so captain mooring in its shores can enjoy the spectacular atmosphere and cuisine of the place. This period coincides with the mushrooms and truffles season, which are frequent elements of the traditional dishes of Tuscany. During this season, the minimum temperatures are around 12 degrees Celsius; the maximum reach a pleasant 22 degrees and rainfall is not frequent.

Captains navigating the Tyrrhenian Sea can moor in one of the marinas located on the coast and take a tour to Florence; the birthplace of the Renaissance, an unforgettable destination due to its importance, culture and cuisine. However, the coast is already quite attractive, having long sandy beaches, such are in Versilia, or beautiful cliffs, where you can anchor under its shelter.

The captain should not miss the seven islands of the Tuscan Archipelago, surrounded by a beautiful clear sea and branded with abundant Mediterranean vegetation and wild nature. A special mention deserves Elba Island, the third largest of the Mediterranean, so it requires several days to be properly explored. The most impressive Italian seabed can be, perhaps, found in Capraia, as it has numerous archaeological remains and wrecks among which you can dive.
