Things to do in Cat Island District
Cat Island, belonging to the Bahamas, has in its nearly square kilometers of surface, great attractions for nautical tourists; dense jungle and pristine beaches that have remained virtually untouched by tourism. It has a marina-Resort (Hawk` s Nest in Devil`s Point) where you can moor and rest, so that the adventure is not at odds with the best amenities.
It has one of the best climates in the Bahamas, short winter with temperatures around 20 degrees and 30 degrees in summer. As it’s always affected by trade winds, the temperature gets even more agreeable, and the journey even more comfortable for captains. The lack of tourism gives it an aura of an island still untouched; with very economic prices to carry out water sports offered, such as diving (it is possible to take classes). The highest point of Bahamas is located on this island, on a hill, where a small monastery was built, called The Hermitage and beautiful to visit, same as the picturesque fishing villages (like the famous villages of floating fishermen, with its colorful houses, that extend like a carpet between the cliffs plunging into the sea). Those cliffs, up to 60 meters, offer a breathtaking view.
To keep the place pristine, heavy fines are imposed to those who damage the land.
