4 great On-board Cameras

Sunday, December 20th, 2009

This time, I get some on-board videos from diferent sailing boats. 3 of them are in multihulls.

If you find any other interesting video, fell free to share with us (just leave a comments below)

(Versión en Español – www.yachtinghoy.com)

1) Tornado
Camera on board Team New Zealand
Tornado´s (Aaron Macintosh and Mark Kennedy) in Cadiz, Spain. The cameras are located at the top of the mast and the bowsprit. You can see spinnaker hoists, jibe´s, etc … I really like it! (Unfortunately, Tornado is not in the Olympics any more :( )

2) Laser
Want to feel aboard a Laser flying? In this video you can see and feel on board a laser (FRA 156449) in an excellent position navigation (with a knock down included). Enjoy it!

3) Groupama 3
Video aboard Groupama in his bid to win the Jules Verne Trophy. You can see this incredible trimaran sailing at 30 kts (at this moment the were running over 700 miles in 24 hours). From minute 2, it would be interesting for sailors with a “technical” profile. You can see how does the leeward pontoon keel of the trimaran works.

4) F18
Very good video on board the F18. (Juan Faustin & Lucas Gonzalez Smith [ARG]). I really wanted to sail. They go really  fast!. I would prefered to see some maneuvering on board. May be next time.

3 Sailing accident compilations

Thursday, December 3rd, 2009

In this occasion I share with you 3 videos with a collection of funny and shocking accidents. I looked for others compilation videos on the web, but I found these 3 the best.
If you find any other interesting video, fell free to share with us (kindly, leave a comments below)

(Versión en Español – www.yachtinghoy.com)

1) Knock Down for everyone!
This is the best I saw anywhere. It has knock down from nearly all international one-design classes. I could not take my eyes out from the screen.

2) Skiff beyond the limit.
I’d  really  love to sail these boats. This video shows a lot of accidents with Skiff’s (sailing with over 20 knots of wind), but the best and fearing accident occur at 3:34 min. Do not miss it.

3) 49er accidents
I imagine that the crew of these sailng beasts have suffered this accidents more than once. If you would like to to sail a 49er, be prepeared for this adrenaline moments.

Top 4 funniest and wired sailing videos

Saturday, November 21st, 2009

This post has 4 of the funniest and wired sailing videos I found out around there.

As we all know, there are others videos on the web (I´m a human being with 24 hs/day ;) ), so feel free to share with us!

(Versión en Español – www.yachtinghoy.com)

1) Ice-Optimist
Want to sail but is really cold? Here is the fun and creative solution. Is there an Ice-Laser?

2) Surfing Cats
This video is one of my favorites. Really very good advertising campaign for Nissan sailing team.
The feeling of surfing the waves and flying around (literally!) should be incredible. Must-see!

3) Are you sure to get into the harbor?

Awesome video about sailing into a port with a very special entry. It’s narrow, shallow, with around +20 knots aft and heavy wave… Would you get in?

4) Test tank and sailing of very particular vessel
This ship (Out95 Monomaran) is a mixture of a skiff with a conventional monohull. When I first saw it, seems to be really strange and I really don´t like it at all. Is it as efficient as the hydrofoil?
